Magnitospheria My biggest niggle is the positioning of the DC-IN jack. Skyliner 250PX FflexTtube Synscan GoTo The most comprehensive implementation of the Skyliner 250PX with a full GoTo system on board. I borrowed a 10" Dobsonian off of a friend to see what the difference was, and it was huge, especially in the brightness with which objects came through. I do not have a permanent storage area outside for my scope so, each observing night I carry it out piece by piece and set the scope up. After having a 6inch Newtonian for years, the planets always amazed me. whats the price on this scope and most important how are the optics, Community Forum Software by IP.BoardLicensed to: Cloudy Nights, Nov 26 2014 12:52 PM | Cloud bands on Jupiter and, the Cassini Division were rendered clearly. When I turned the telescope on the moon, it produced wonderful close up views of the smaller craters, but at low magnifications, the moon is blindingly bright. Sky-Watcher Flextube Dobsonian: SkyLiner 400p GoTo - Review by Magnitospheria. Next purchase will be a power tank so I can take it to some dark sky locations. While the focuser is very nice, it has some flaws. Deep Sky Stacker automatically aligns multiple exposures which gets around the problem of Field Rotation. Perhaps some sort of wheels on plywood sheet underneath might let you roll it out into the garden? I have been using this scope out of Suburban Wellington, New … Astounding galaxy image! not fond of fast optics I am looking to buy a certain 16"f7 with known excelant optics. I have been using this scope out of Suburban Wellington, New Zealand, in fairly light polluted skies. When using an alt-az scope for astrophotography, keep in mind the following: 1) You will have the least image rotation when pointed due east or west, and the most when pointed north or south.. 2) You will have the least image rotation when pointed at the equator and the most when pointed at the pole. You are good. All I can say is wow when viewed through this scope. I found this telescope to do this brilliantly, the massive aperture produces amazing images, it also makes exposure times on a camera short so field rotation can't kick in, however the mount is far from precise and stable enough for quality images. Skywatcher Heritage 130P is the smallest flex tube Dobsonian telescope with a decent sized parabolic primary mirror of 130mm. There is no way to sugar-coat this, THIS SCOPE IS HEAVY, REALLY HEAVY. Its saving grace is that you can take it out piece at a time, the mount is made of four sections, the heaviest of which weighs 15-20 kilos, but the other 3 parts are quite light, the OTA itself weighs in excess of 30 kilos. Overall, I love this telescope, it has a few niggles but in terms of the purpose it was built for, and the purpose I wanted it for, it serves excellently. My biggest niggle is the positioning of the DC-IN jack. Combining the power of a large optical tube, the extreme portability of the patented collapsible FlexTube design and SynScan computerised Go-To technology, the new Skyliner FlexTube Synscan Dobsonians bring over 42,900 celestial objects right in front of your eyes, and automatically track them as they move across the night sky - a simple to use range of large telescopes.Computerised object location, portability and large aperture quality optics, The patented dual-encoder design allows you to manually move the telescope anytime and to anywhere you wish - with no need for realignment. I can set this scope up by myself, I have many a time (but I lie on the upper end of average persons physical strength). Additionally, Collapsing the tube does not take it the whole way down, an inch or so gap is left allowing plenty of creepy-crawlies into the OTA if it is stored in a spider-friendly-environment. Sky-Watcher’s latest Dobsonian telescope can track the stars so that the views through its huge aperture stay in the eyepiece Our rating . The Finder: The achromatic strait-through 9x50 finder is nothing to write home about, but is perfectly adequate and most objects brighter than magnitude 6 or 7 show up clearly. SkyWatcher Skyliner 250P FlexTube SynScan Dobsonian Telescope Simply push the tube close to the object and let the computer do the rest of the work.! Next purchase will be a power tank so I can take it to some dark sky locations. I have been using this scope out of Suburban Wellington, New … Once set up, you realise just what a monster you have bought yourself, I am pretty much exactly 6 feet tall and the telescope dwarfs me, the focuser and finder are well out of reach, a step ladder is a must. Several functions may not work. When packing the telescope away for the day, I find that when broken down, it doesn't quite fit in my cupboard, so make sure you have a place for it. I've owned this telescope for a little over a year now, as I have now been living with it a while, I thought it was review time! Your galaxy image is excellent. The telescope is also 100% identical to the standard Skyliner 250PX FlexTube. Overall, I love this telescope, it has a few niggles but in terms of the purpose it was built for, and the purpose I wanted it for, it serves excellently. Telescopes in the 10-12 inch calibre just do not compare. Even Collapsed the OTA is not small, but it is manageable....barely. By myself, I find that set-up takes between 20 and 30 minutes from start to turning on the scope. Stay safe. Over all though, I am very fond of this scope, and you'd be hard pushed to find something better for the price. The SkyWatcher Skyliner-250PX FlexTube integrates some of the best aspects of other Dobsonians. Sky-Watcher 17Ah Power Tank Recommended 56% more Light Gathering than 200mm, Awesome scope After having a 6inch Newtonian for years, the planets always amazed me. It will go in an normal sized car, it fits in my Camry but takes up the whole boot and both back seats. However, its size and its bulkiness are a serious problem, on reflection, if I was to go back and buy again, I would go for the 14" version, the 16" is that little bit too large for it to be practical. 4.5 out of 5 star rating 4.5 £549 Skip to view deals. The travel distance is very short, making extension tubes necessary on many occasions, it also does not have a compression ring, so the eyepiece holding screws may scratch the eyepiece barrels, but overall it is a lovely focuser. I use GSO super-plossls with this telescope, they are lovely, cheap eyepieces, I also use my DSLR body to take pictures though the scope, the telescope comes with a 2" T Adapter for cameras, all you need is you brands T-Ring and you are on your way. in, Article: Sky-Watcher Flextube Dobsonian: SkyLiner 400p GoTo. I've owned this telescope for a little over a year now, as I have now been living with it a while, I thought it was review time! Yes, it breaks down into the rocker box and tube, but these weigh 23 and 20 kilograms (50 lb/44 lb), respectively. When moving the telescope by hand, the mount feels "sticky", meaning the telescope will not move smoothly when pushed gently making it hard to aim precisely without using the motor-drives. The GoTo and tracking feature is easy to set up and use. Conclusions? The position of the finder can be very awkward, especially nearer Zenith, with a scope this large craning awkwardly around is difficult, I also tried it with a right angle finder to see if that helped but it made little difference to the awkwardness. It is small, portable, and the aperture is collecting enough light to show you a lot of things on the night sky. This SkyWatcher Dobsonian is set up with GoTo capability. All rights reserved. One of my favourite things about this telescope is that you can also rough focus by collapsing the tube, allowing you to bring the primary and secondary closer together, very handy if focus is just out of reach (if you are using a reducer for example).
